About us

Welcome to KLOSTI – a website that brings to you contemporary Greek creations for yourself, your home and your loved ones. We are very happy you have found us! If you like something and decide to buy it, know that you are doing some good too because your purchase here, has a purpose! Klosti is not just another eshop; it has a mission to support independent artists/craftsmen and their communities so that they may continue to live off their talent and flourish artistically.

What is KLOSTI? KLOSTI derives from the Greek word for thread “Κλωστή” (pronounced: klo - stί). We are like a thread that connects you with independent craftsmen. We chose this name because we believe this word best describes what we do: the products you see are here because of the long hours of research, field visits and collaboration with craftsmen followed by marketing and advertising efforts to reach you. Just like a thread sews different pieces of cloth together, KLOSTI unites in an invisible way the craftsmen, us and you. Moreover KLOSTI is a suitable name for this project because of the properties it shares with our products. Think for a moment how versatile, delicate and durable thread is: so many of our products carry on the traditions (cultural motifs, techniques and otherwise) that have withstood the test of time while being uniquely expressed and interpreted by each one of our artists.

How did it all start? You will be surprised to know that the project started in a very unusual way: Anastasia and her husband Dimitris were starting their home and were looking for interesting, unique objects that would create a cozy ambiance. As they searched in Greece and abroad they came across unique workshops, met a lot of talented men and women and decided to share these newly discovered treasures with the rest of the world! After many long working hours, this passion turned into an eshop! At around the same time the Greek crisis was taking a turn for the worse. Anastasia, whose background is in the political sciences, saw the link between stronger small businesses and economic growth; she made the decision to focus on Greek workshops exclusively in order to support Greek artists and craftsmen and their communities … and after many long working hours KLOSTI was born!
